AHS confirms 150 new COVID cases in Alberta, seven in South Zone

LETHBRIDGE, AB – Alberta Health Services has released Thursday’s report on COVID-19, covering statistics compiled over the last 24 hours.

150 new cases were confirmed across the province, bringing the total to 231,008. Of those, 2,471 cases are active while 226,257 people have recovered.

In the South Zone, seven people tested positive.

Active infections in Lethbridge fell by two to 14 and regionally by nine to 88.

Since yesterday’s update, two Albertans died from COVID with one each in the South and Central Zones. To date, 2,280 people in the province have died as a result of the virus.

The death in the South Zone was for a woman in her 70’s from West Lethbridge.

Provincially, 242 patients are currently hospitalized including 58 who have been admitted to intensive care.

3,533,434 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered as of the end of June 15.

With another 6,044 tests conducted over the past day, there has now been a total of 4,624,731 tests completed on 2,167,133 different people.

Below is a breakdown of cases per health zone in Alberta:

  • Calgary Zone – 93,949 cases, 1,078 active
    • 116 in hospital, 28 in ICU
    • 692 deaths
  • Edmonton Zone – 77,578 cases, 535 active
    • 61 in hospital, 19 in ICU
    • 1,101 deaths
  • North Zone – 26,320 cases, 486 active
    • 29 in hospital, six in ICU
    • 190 deaths
  • Central Zone – 20,687 cases, 284 active
    • 24 in hospital, four in ICU
    • 164 deaths (one new)
  • South Zone – 12,464 cases, 88 active
    • 12 in hospital, one in ICU
    • 133 deaths (one new)

Below is a breakdown of cases in the South Health Zone:

  • Lethbridge – 4,833 cases (three new), 14 active, 39 deaths (one new)
    • West Lethbridge – 1,770 cases, four active, four deaths (one new)
    • North Lethbridge – 1,610 cases (one new), three active, 11 deaths
    • South Lethbridge – 1,452 cases (two new), seven active, 24 deaths
  • Brooks – 1,502 cases, nine active, 15 deaths
  • Medicine Hat – 1,259 cases (two new), 25 active, 22 deaths
  • Lethbridge County – 1,255 cases, five active, 12 deaths
  • Cardston County – 1,025 cases, one active, 18 deaths
  • M.D. of Taber – 571 cases, one active, six deaths
  • County of Warner – 469 cases, seven active, three deaths
  • M.D. of Pincher Creek – 315 cases (one new), 10 active, five deaths
  • Fort Macleod – 322 cases (one new), two active, six deaths
  • Cypress County – 300 cases, five active, one death
  • County of Newell – 241 cases, five active, two deaths
  • County of Forty Mile – 157 cases, one active, three deaths
  • Crowsnest Pass – 83 cases, one active, one death
  • Waterton – Four cases, zero active, zero deaths
