LETHBRIDGE, AB – The Lethbridge College Kodiaks men’s volleyball team has announced a new member to their roster.

Shaye Wall joins the team from Swift Current.

There, he was a three-year member of the Swift Current Composite Colts, as well as the Jr. Sundogs club system. He also represented his home province of Saskatchewan at the 2019 Canada Cup in Halifax as well as the 2019 Western Canada Summer Games.

Kodiaks coach Greg Gibos said the team is thrilled to add Wall to their roster.

“Shaye is an incredibly driven athlete who puts the work in at the practice gym as well as the weight room. One of his biggest attributes is his ability to make others around him better. We want athletes that truly love volleyball and the process of getting better. I know Shaye will do this every day at Lethbridge College.”

The six-foot-three outside attacker said he’s excited to join the team and believes Lethbridge College is a perfect fit for him both academically and on the court.

Wall said signing with Lethbridge is “a dream come true”.

“The Environmental Sciences programs have a great reputation. The Kodiaks volleyball program has been one of the most successful in the [Alberta College’s Athletic Conference] recently, so I’m just happy to be joining such a high-level program.”

Outside of school, Wall is pushing for a spot on Team Saskatchewan’s roster for the 2022 Canada Games in Niagara, Ontario.

He said that, “the Kodiaks have a reputation for being a positive environment to learn and grow in, and this is something that I want to be a part of.”

“I want to help the Kodiaks get back to another national championship and have a lot of fun while achieving these goals. I take a lot of pride in being able to read the play and defend against opponent’s attackers. This opportunity has me motivated to be the hardest working athlete each day and I’m hoping to push my teammates to become better.”

Wall won’t be the only Kodiak with connections to Team Saskatchewan, as former team members Clay Thierman and Adam Revet suit up for Lethbridge College’s team.

After completing his diploma, Wall plans on pursuing the college’s Bachelor of Ecosystem Management degree program.
