Masters BBQ Competition being held in Lethbridge July 10 & 11

Jul 3, 2021 | 10:12 AM

LETHBRIDGE, AB – Calling all masters of the grill, it is finally your time to shine.

Sanctioned by the Kansas City Barbeque Society (KCBS), Lethbridge is set to host Alberta’s first Master Series Barbeque Competition at Exhibition Park.

The “Smoke, Wind and Fire” competition will have four traditional grilling categories – chicken, ribs, pork, and beef brisket.

There will also be a Backyard Amateur BBQ Competition on July 10 with the winners being named the Lord or Lady of the Grill.

The Amateur event will see contestants compete in chicken and ribs categories.

Calgary chefs John Jackson and Connie DeSousa of CHARCUT will be the judges.

Jackson will cycle from Calgary to Lethbridge for the event. DeSousa will attempt to break her record of deboning a pig’s head in less than one minute on July 10 at 1:00 pm.

Spectators to both competitions can not only learn more about grilling and barbequing techniques but also take in free samples of charcuterie meats.
