LETHBRIDGE, AB – Two members of the Lethbridge Hurricanes will attend Canada’s National Men’s Under-18 Team Summer Development Camp.

Lethbridge’s head coach Brent Kisio will serve as the coach for the Under-18 Canadian team. He’s previously served behind the bench for Hockey Canada at the Under-17, Under-18 and Under-20 levels. In 2018, he helped the team win the Hlinka Gretzky Cup Championship. He also served as an assistant coach at the 2019 World Junior Championship in Vancouver.

Over six seasons as head coach of the Hurricanes, Kisio has amassed a record of 203-124-33 in 360 regular season games. He is the team’s all-time leader in coaching victories. Under Kisio, the ‘Canes have qualified for the WHL playoffs five times, including winning a Central Division title in 2015-2016 and making back-to-back appearances in the WHL’s Eastern Conference Championship Series in 2017 and 2018.

Hurricanes defenceman Logan McCutcheon will also attend the development camp. The 17-year-old was named as part of a 45-man roster for the summer showcase. The Saskatoon-born player was drafted by Lethbridge in the third round, 60th overall, of the 2019 WHL Prospects Draft. He appeared in four games during the 2019-2020 regular season, making his WHL debut on September 21, 2019 against the Medicine Hat Tigers.

During the shortened 2021 season, McCutcheon skated in 23 regular season games where he totaled 11 points (one goal, 10 assists), along with two penalty minutes. He finished second in defenceman scoring on the Hurricanes and was named the recipient of the Carl Trentini Memorial Award as the team’s Rookie of the Year.

17 WHL players will attend the camp while five staff members from the league have been named to the Under-18 coaching or management staff. Lethbridge’s general manager Peter Anholt is representing Canada at the Under-18 level on the management group.

The development camp takes place from July 25 to August 4 at the Seven Chiefs Sportsplex on the Tsuut’ina Nation near Calgary.
