Two confirmed dead in Taber motor collision on July 16

TABER, AB – Two people died in a motor vehicle collision on Friday, July 16, in Taber along Highway 36.

Taber RCMP along with the MD of Taber Fire Department and Alberta Health Services responded to the scene with the help of Halo Air Ambulance out of Medicine Hat.

RCMP’s investigation shows that a southbound cargo van crossed over the centre line and collided head on with a northbound passenger van.

A third vehicle was also involved when it was struck by the southbound van on its driver’s side.

RCMP says the 33-year-old driver of the “cargo van” and the 72-year-old driver of the “passenger van” were pronounced dead on scene. Both of the people that died are from Taber.

A 17-year-old male passenger of the “cargo van” and a 59-year-old female passenger of the “passenger van” were transported to a Calgary area hospital by EMS with non-life-threatening injuries.

Also, the 40-year-old female driver of the car and the 10-year-old female passenger were treated on scene by EMS for minor injuries and released.

The cause of the collision is still being investigated, the names of the deceased will not be released and no charges are “anticipated.”
