65% of eligible Albertans fully immunized against COVID-19

LETHBRIDGE, AB – Just under two-thirds of Albertans aged 12 and up have received their two COVID vaccine shots.

Alberta Health Services (AHS) says, as of July 29, 65 per cent of eligible Albertans are fully vaccinated.

This puts the province above the national full immunization averages of the U.S., France, and Germany, among others.

“Vaccines are the most effective way to get past the pandemic,” says Premier Jason Kenney. “They’re safe and highly effective. This is another important milestone, but we will keep pushing for more and more Albertans to get the vaccine. If you haven’t gotten both doses, now is the time.”

As well, approximately 75.8 per cent of those eligible have gotten at least one dose.

In the U.S.A., the Mayo Clinic reports that 49.6 per cent of Americans are fully vaccinated while 57.4 per cent are partially vaccinated. It should be noted, however, that these numbers are for the entire population, not just those at least 12 years old. For the total population in Alberta, 55 per cent are fully immunized while 64.4 per cent have at least one shot.

A total of 5,227,521 shots have been administered in Alberta.
