Lethbridge Corn Maze open for season, boasts new one-acre sunflower field

LETHBRIDGE, AB – You can now get lost at the Lethbridge Corn Maze.

The popular southern Alberta attraction is open for guests from near and far. Owner-operator Theo Slingerland told LNN that visitation has been steady since last weekend’s opening.

New this year is a one-acre sunflower field with a smaller maze. Slingerland remarked that, “we never had sunflowers before, so this is the first time that we have one acre of total that we have sunflowers in, and they are blooming.”

“Hopefully for the next three to four weeks, they will be blooming, and people can come out, and either get lost in the small maze in there or take pictures or all that kind of stuff.”

For the 2020 season, the corn maze was affected by COVID-19 restrictions. Slingerland said for this year, they’re operating without restrictions in place. He said that, “we do have a lot of room here, like last year we were crowded sometimes, so we had to restrict how many people we could have.”

“As far as I can tell, we shouldn’t have that problem this year but of course, if somebody’s sick they should stay home and don’t come here.”

Slingerland noted that staff will evaluate the pandemic situation to see if any restrictions need to be put into place. There are also hand-washing stations on-site, as they’re required for the petting zoo.

Goat snuggling is still available as well, until the end of August. Guests must still book a timeslot for the goat snuggling.

The theme for this year’s corn maze is ‘the farm’. Slingerland explained that, “it’s a silhouette of a goat and a silhouette of a cow and then we have, like a farm barn in there as well, drawn out there [in the maze].”

The Lethbridge Corn Maze is open Tuesdays to Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. each day. More information about the site is available here and on Facebook.
