Aug 11, 2021 | 2:39 PM

MORLEY, ALBERTA – Police say two people are dead after a collision between a semi-truck and a five-tonne truck on the Trans-Canada Highway west of Calgary.

EMS spokesperson Adam Loria says the collision took place around 11:20 a.m. Wednesday near Morley when an eastbound cube van veered through the median and into the westbound lanes, colliding head-on with a white car.

A semi in the westbound lane was unable to avoid the white car, and a westbound cube van then hit the semi.

Two occupants in the white car have ben confirmed deceased.

Loria adds that three people were transported by ambulance to the Foothills Medical Centre in Calgary with serious, but not life-threatening injuries.

Traffic on the busy highway is expected to be affected for several hours.

Police say motorists travelling west are being rerouted through Morley Road to Highway 1A.
