AHS files labour practice complaint against nurses union

Aug 18, 2021 | 10:20 AM

Alberta Health Services has filed an unfair labour practice complaint with the Alberta Labour Relations Board, saying the nurses union is bargaining in bad faith.

The government agency alleges the United Nurses of Alberta is falsely saying registered nurses are being recruited through a third party at a higher rate of pay while contract talks are going on.

The union responds that ads posted by those recruiters have been seen by hundreds of people in Alberta and other provinces.

AHS says it’s confident the board will dismiss the complaint.
