LETHBRIDGE, AB. — A 22-year old Blood Reserve man faces multiple charges in relation to a two vehicle collision that resulted in serious injuries to another driver.

The incident happened around 8:30-pm on Tuesday (Aug 17), at the intersection of 13 street and 6 Avenue north. A 28-year-old city woman, the driver and lone occupant of the other vehicle involved, was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

Both vehicles sustained extensive damage. Witnesses told police the driver of the other vehicle fled the scene on foot.

A short time later, an individual approached police at the scene, claiming he was a passenger in that vehicle. However, it was determined he was in fact the driver of the vehicle, which had been stolen earlier from the Blood Reserve.

Austin Little Shields, was taken to hospital with minor injuries. He faces four charges, including impaired driving; dangerous driving; criminal hit and run; and theft of a motor vehicle. Little Shields was released from custody following a Judicial Interim Release hearing to appear in court Oct. 19, 2021.
