UPDATED: Changes coming to Lethbridge’s indoor pools starting September 7

LETHBRIDGE, AB – UPDATE: The Cor Van Raay YMCA has reached out to LNN with an update on its aquatic centre hours.

Effective September 1, hours will be extended. Assistant General Manager of the Cor Van Raay YMCA Scott Boyd said, “we have updated our facility hours to better support our community.”

“Our extended hours in the aquatic centre allow for our members and visitors to have a safe and welcoming space to continue in their wellness journey.”

The updated hours at the aquatic centre will be 5:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Mondays through Fridays and 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on weekends and holidays with lane swim and public swim offered for the majority of the day.

Going into the fall season, indoor pools in Lethbridge operated by Recreation Excellence will see some changes.

Stan Siwik Pool, Nicholas Sheran Leisure Centre Pool and the Fritz Sick Pool will be opening with reduced hours starting September 7. Henderson Pool will stay open until Monday, September 6, weather permitting.

In a release, the City of Lethbridge noted that, “in an effort to balance staffing availability and public demand, schedules and programming have been changed to accommodate all facilities and users.”

“Facility visitors are encouraged to check pool schedules to see where those changes have been made and to see where programs are being offered.”

• Stan Siwik Pool will be open Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. The facility will be closed Fridays and Sundays.
• Nicholas Sheran Leisure Centre Pool will be open Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays. The pool will be closed Mondays and Saturdays.
• Fritz Sick Pool will be open Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

Swim lesson registration for both Nicholas Sheran and Stan Siwik pools is live as of Tuesday, August 24 at 9 a.m. Registration can be completed online here, or by calling the Stan Siwik Pool at 403-320-3054 or the Nicholas Sheran Leisure Centre Pool at 403-320-3046.

The city noted that pool schedules are subject to change as staffing levels stabilize and the demand for the facilities increases.
