TABER, AB – Rick Popadynetz hopes to become Taber’s next mayor following the 2021 Alberta municipal elections.

He was born and raised in the community, having spent much of his adult life in active roles in Taber.

“I used to be the president of the local chamber and I was on council for seven years, so I’ve been working my way up to this role for about, I would say, about the last 12 years.”

Through this work, Popadynetz says he has been able to get the attention of Alberta’s last three premiers, and therefore, believes he is well-positioned to “put Taber on the map.”

Popadynetz also highlighted his volunteer and sports coaching work, while having a career as a journeyman carpenter.

He is running on a seven-point platform with roads, recreation, economic development, approachability for Taber, business recovery, Taber on a global level, and youth-led initiatives.

On the topic of roads, he explained that Taber has never had a flow plan for future arteries, and having one would ensure a smoother future for school bus routes and commercial traffic.

General voting day for the 2021 Alberta municipal elections is October 18.
