Ken Holst running for Taber mayor in October’s election

TABER, AB – Ken Holst believes he has what it takes to sit at the helm of Taber Town Council.

He says he has a lifetime of experience in a variety of fields that would make him an effective mayor.

“I was in the RCMP as a police officer. I have been chairman of the police commission here in Taber for nine years prior, I am no longer, but I also sit on many boards and have sat on many boards and chaired them both at a provincial level and here within the Town of Taber in the insurance industry.”

His campaign includes three main priorities – economic growth, transparency, and unity.

On the topic of unity, Holst told LNN that all people, regardless of their backgrounds, should be able to live a comfortable and safe life in the community.

Better transparency from the local government is one he believes that many in Taber would agree is needed.

“Historically, our council has done a lot of things that have been behind closed doors and I want to make that a bit more transparent – I want our decisions to be open, I want them to be part of the community and to have the community be able to make this a better town together as we link arms.”

“I definitely have that vision and foresight of what it takes to be able to lead out and inspire others to do the same.”

General voting day for the 2021 Alberta municipal elections is October 18.
