Ryan Wolfe running for Lethbridge City Council

LETHBRIDGE, AB – Ryan Wolfe is throwing his hat in the ring to be one of Lethbridge’s new city councillors.

As a mortgage professional, Wolfe says timing and seeing issues not being addressed in the city is what led him to run for council.

“When the election came up I just really felt that the city was at a point where there were enough things that weren’t working well, and I pretty much felt compelled to enter the race.”

He says with the issues the city is facing at the moment, he has some good ideas to tackle them. A lot of his priorities came from listening to local businesses, friends, families, neighbours, and he wanted to listen to the community to learn what’s in their interest.

“I think we need to move the needle on crime. Lethbridge should not be number one on any indicator to do with crime, we shouldn’t be the number one worst at anything in all of Canada except for maybe wind.”

His campaign prioritizes cracking down on crime, getting people back to work and seeing businesses prosper, and helping end homelessness.

“Just because the masks are gone does NOT mean the pandemic is over. There will be ramifications for months and years. Businesses, people, and families will need time and support in order to recover. Lethbridge’s best days await and I am excited to work with you to revitalize our local economy and attract investment.”

On the issue with homelessness in Lethbridge, Wolfe says he would like to see it tackled similarly to how Medicine Hat has handled it, as they have ended chronic homelessness.

From his campaign page, he quoted a famous line in the following: “If you give a man a fish, you feed him for a day. If you teach a man to fish, you feed him for a lifetime. We need to teach more people to fish. Self Reliance is one key to our homelessness and crime problems.”

Wolfe finished off by saying he hopes residents can get out to vote this year as in recent municipal elections the turnout has been poor.

General voting day for the 2021 Alberta municipal elections is October 18.
