LETHBRIDGE, AB – SAAMIS Aboriginal Employment and Training has put together their Indigenous Arts & Entrepreneur Trade Show and Competition Pow Wow at the North Pavillion of the Lethbridge Exhibition Park.

The trade show runs on September 11-12th from 09:00 am – 6:00 pm.

“This event evolved from Saamis’s flagship Indigenous Arts and Entrepreneurship Program which, over the past two years, has trained more than three dozen First Nations people with disabilities and other employment barriers to develop and operate successful small businesses in and around the city of Lethbridge,” the organization says.

SAAMIS says this will take an entrepreneurial approach to broad-scale Indigenous employment issues.

SAAMIS’ Indigenous Arts and Entrepreneurship Program challenges individuals and partnerships alike to pursue economic success in ways that honor family, community, and culture.

The trade show will showcase the program and will celebrate an inaugural event that is intended to become a permanent feature in Lethbridge’s summer line-up of cultural and market opportunities in the future.

“This year, we will have thirty vendor booths selling Indigenous arts, foods, and services from both graduates of the SAAMIS program and other local Native entrepreneurs,” SAAMIS says.

Throughout the two days, in the center of the pavilion, there will be a large two-day powwow dance competition with cash prizes.
