LETHBRIDGE, AB – Jenn Prosser is running for Lethbridge City Council in this October’s Municipal Election.

Prosser’s slogan is “A Stronger Lethbridge, Together” creating a united community throughout the city.

“I truly believe in how special our city is. I’m running because I believe in the strength of our community.”

“Over 5200 members in Lethbridge and Southern Alberta have supported one another since the beginning of the pandemic through acts of love and kindness, and it has been a great privilege to be a part of that community support. I see this in the community-building work done by the many diverse communities that make up our city.”

Her platform has three main points:

  • Building strength by living in dignity
  • A stronger community for everyone
  • Growing stronger by caring

Building strength by living in dignity:

“Immediate Investment in Transitional Housing and Safe, Maintained Affordable Housing.

It is impossible to get a job when you are unhoused. It is challenging to access AISH or Income Supports. The risks of complex health issues are higher for those without stable, high-quality housing – putting a strain on our medical services and leaving people in pain.

Affordable, safe and maintained housing builds stronger communities. It builds diverse, inclusive neighbourhoods where all are welcome. It is my top priority.”

A stronger community for everyone:

“Making the Civic Commons a Reality.

I believe the City of Lethbridge should work to implement the vision of the Civic Commons Master Plan, and use the existing land in that area to create a recreational and community centre, connecting it to LSCO and the Civic Arena with access to green space, a community garden and a play area in the existing land owned by the city.

By creating a central space that connects many existing services and investing in a recreational facilities that meets the needs of everyone with a focus on the whole community, we can create a stronger, more vibrant heart of our city.”

Growing stronger by caring:

“Affordable, Accessible Childcare.

Finding affordable childcare is a challenge for many families in our city. The median cost of childcare in Lethbridge is $900.00 per child, only $50.00 less than Edmonton.

If elected, I will work with the other city councillors, the city administration, and current childcare leaders to explore how the City of Lethbridge can expand affordable child care and early education to meet the needs of every family that needs it.”

General voting day in the 2021 municipal election is October 18.
