P.K. Subban executive producing upcoming docuseries ‘Black Life: A Canadian History’
TORONTO — Homegrown hockey star P.K. Subban says he hopes to educate audiences and spark conversation with the new docuseries, “Black Life: A Canadian History.”
The Toronto-raised New Jersey Devils defenceman is an executive producer on the newly announced eight-part project, slated to air on CBC TV and CBC Gem in 2023.
Showrunner Leslie Norville of Studio 112 and Northwood Entertainment’s Miranda de Pencier recruited an illustrious team including former Governor General Michaëlle Jean and rapper-broadcaster Shad, who serve as cultural consultants.
Each one-hour episode will be helmed by a different Black Canadian director and explore 400 years of the Black experience in Canada.
