LETHBRIDGE, AB. — The Canadian Federation of Agriculture (CFA), working with farmers across the country, has launched a relief program to move hay to drought-stricken livestock producers in the west.

Hay will be purchased from eastern Canada suppliers and sold at cost to recipients.

Known as “Hay West 2021”, the initiative will operate on a break-even basis. Hay supplied through the program will be sold to selected applicants at ten cents per pound. Freight costs will be covered.

There is a proviso. Because of expected high demand, Hay West 2021 can not guarantee the provision of hay to every applicant. Every effort will be made to supply make hay for sale to those who request it. Supply of rounds and square bales of varying dimensions will depend on availability.
