Conservative dropped as candidate over tweets says she is still the Tory choice
OTTAWA — A Conservative candidate dropped by the party over Islamophobic tweets she claims were faked says she is still running as the “confirmed” Tory candidate in the Toronto riding.
The Tories dumped Lisa Robinson last week after the Beaches-East York Liberal incumbent, Nate Erskine-Smith, posted screenshots of Twitter posts allegedly written by Robinson.
But Robinson denied that the Twitter account that sent the posts in 2017 belonged to her and said she had previously reported it to police.
Robinson said Friday she is refusing to give up in the campaign, despite losing the endorsement of Conservative Leader Erin O’Toole.
