34-year-old man faces multiple charges after Crime Suppression Team bust in Lethbridge

LETHBRIDGE, AB – A 34-year-old man was nabbed by Lethbridge Police’s Crime Suppression Team Wednesday night.

On Sept. 22, the CST, with the assistance of the K9 and patrol units, seized weapons and drugs after arresting Kody Martens on outstanding arrest warrants.

Upon making a traffic stop for outstanding warrants, the suspect was found to be in possession of a quantity of cocaine, cash and shotgun shells. Police subsequently executed a search warrant at Martens’ residence in the 200-block of St. James Boulevard North.

Items seized at the home were weapons include a loaded shotgun, a CO2 harpoon gun, a switchblade, multiple air pistols and bear spray. Officers also seized quantities of fentanyl, methamphetamine and cocaine. The total value of the drugs is about $3,350, according to the LPS.

Three suspected stolen bikes, including an e-bike valued at $6,000, were also seized.

Marten is charged with two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking, unauthorized possession of a firearm, careless storage of a firearm, and possession of a firearm obtained by offence.

He remains in custody while awaiting a Judicial Interim Release hearing.

The investigation is ongoing, with police saying further charges are pending.
