70% of all Albertans have at least one shot, 70K registered for $100 vaccine “incentive”

LETHBRIDGE, AB – Alberta’s Premier is sharing two updates on the province’s COVID-19 vaccine rollout.

Jason Kenney Tweeted Sunday evening about total vaccination levels and the $100 debit card program.

70 per cent of Alberta’s total population has been immunized with at least a first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine.

Typically, when the province talks about vaccination levels, the state the percentage of those who are eligible, ie. those who are at least 12 years old.

Among eligible Albertans, 82.3 per cent are at least partially immunized while 73.4 per cent are fully vaccinated with two shots.

Kenney announced in early September that Albertans who received either a first or second dose of a COVID-19 vaccine between September 3 and October 14 can receive a one-time payment from the government in the form of a $100 debit card.

Although the program will continue for another couple of weeks, the premier reports that 70,000 people have registered so far, meaning that around $7-million will go towards Albertans who got their shots in that time period.

Those who got immunized before then are not eligible.
