Active infections drop, 1,246 new COVID cases in Alberta Tuesday

LETHBRIDGE, AB – The province has released its latest report on COVID-19 for Tuesday, covering statistics from the 24 hours.

In that time, 1,246 cases were confirmed across the province bringing the total to date up to 294,784. Of those, 20,513 cases are active while 271,608 people have recovered.

In the South Zone, 152 people tested positive. Lethbridge recorded 35 new cases.

Active infections across the region fell by 57.

18 Albertans died from COVID-19 including five people from the South Zone. To date, 2,663 people in the province have died as a result of the virus.

The deaths in the South Zone were for two people from Medicine Hat, one each in Cardston County, Cypress County, and the County of Forty Mile.

Provincially, 1,100 patients are currently hospitalized including 263 who have been admitted to intensive care.

Below is a breakdown of cases per health zone in Alberta:

  • Calgary Zone – 112,180 cases, 4,930 active
    • 289 in hospital, 90 in ICU
    • 774 deaths (one new)
  • Edmonton Zone – 94,909 cases, 5,280 active
    • 342 in hospital, 113 in ICU
    • 1,179 deaths (six new)
  • North Zone – 37,860 cases, 3,894 active
    • 150 in hospital, 12 in ICU
    • 262 deaths (three new)
  • Central Zone – 30,333 cases, 4,129 active
    • 186 in hospital, 21 in ICU
    • 249 deaths (three new)
  • South Zone – 19,199 cases, 2,260 active
    • 133 in hospital, 27 in ICU
    • 199 deaths (five new)

Below is a breakdown of cases in the South Health Zone. The numbers in brackets show new cases or deaths over the past 24 hours:

  • Lethbridge – 6,039 cases (35 new), 483 active, 45 deaths
    • West Lethbridge – 2,214 cases (13 new), 137 active, five deaths
    • North Lethbridge – 1,991 cases (13 new), 167 active, 13 deaths
    • South Lethbridge – 1,823 cases (nine new), 173 active, 27 deaths
  • Medicine Hat – 3,793 cases (33 new), 666 active, 52 deaths (two new)
  • Brooks – 1,926 cases (seven new), 173 active, 18 deaths
  • Lethbridge County – 1,626 cases (four new), 152 active, 14 deaths
  • Cardston County – 1,488 cases (63 new), 141 active, 24 deaths (one new)
  • M.D. of Taber – 1,012 cases (15 new), 181 active, 10 deaths
  • Cypress County – 740 cases (11 new), 111 active, four deaths (one new)
  • County of Warner – 617 cases (three new), 78 active, three deaths
  • M.D. of Pincher Creek – 525 cases (12 new), 61 active, eight deaths
  • Fort Macleod – 444 cases (one new), 48 active, six deaths
  • County of Newell – 381 cases (four new), 53 active, four deaths
  • County of Forty Mile – 254 cases (four new), 62 active, five deaths (one new)
  • Crowsnest Pass – 126 cases (one new), 14 active, one death
  • Waterton – Seven cases, zero active, zero deaths
