Blood Tribe officers charge Wetaskiwin man with assault and flight from police

STAND OFF, AB – Blood Tribe Police arrested a man in connection with flight from police incidents over the weekend.

On the morning of Sunday, September 26, officers located a 31-year-old man driving a grey Dodge Caravan. When police tried to conduct a traffic stop, the man fled from officer, but the vehicle became stuck in place. With the assistance of Cardston RCMP and the RCMP Police Dog Services, the man was taken into custody.

Eric Steven Brown, of Wetaskiwin, is charged with assault on a police officer, flight from police, dangerous driving and driving while prohibited. He was also arrested on outstanding warrants out of the Lethbridge Police Service for similar offences.

Brown is currently in custody awaiting a bail hearing on Monday, October 4.

A release from the BTP stated, β€œthe Blood Tribe Police Service reminds all non-Nation members that a valid permit from Blood Tribe Land Management is required to lawfully access Blood Tribe land (with the exception of passing through on a provincial highway), and trespassers are liable to be charged and removed.”

Blood Tribe members are asked to report any suspicious activity to the Blood Tribe Police Service at 403-737-3800. The investigation into this incident is ongoing.
