Hurricanes open their regular season with a 9-2 win
LETHBRIDGE, AB. — The Hurricanes’ may be hoping their home opener against the Calgary Hitmen set the pace for the season.
While the first period saw the two teams matched for shots on goal, it was the Canes who made those shots pay off, with six goals to Calgary’s two.
Captain Jett Jones got things started, with an assist from Peter Repcik just 90 seconds in. Five minutes later, Logan McCutcheon lobbed in his first of the season on a power play and it was 2-0 for the home team.
At the mid point in the frame, Calgary’s David Adaszynski put his team on the scoreboard with an unassisted goal.
