LETHBRIDGE, AB – “If elected, I promise to be held accountable to my word. If I commit to something, I promise to follow through on that.”‘

Robin Walker is vying for your vote in the 2021 municipal election for Lethbridge City Council.

He enters the race with a wide array of career experiences that he feels will make him a good city councillor.

Walker graduated from Lethbridge College and the U of L with a degree in accounting.

“I do have some knowledge of, you know, fiscal policies and how to read financial statements on the money end of things, which is obviously important to everybody, so I think whatever we can do to help, at least not continue to increase cost for residents, but maybe even bring costs back down.”

As an extension of his financial background, Walker would want to see if there are any costs that have been downloaded to the municipality from the provincial or federal governments that can be put back onto them.

While working as a part-time taxi driver in the evenings, he told LNN that he noticed the community’s issues with safety, as well as finding needles in parks with his children.

If elected, Walker says he would look to play an active role in helping out the city’s vulnerable population.

The candidate also has work experience in recycling and real estate appraisal. On the real estate front, he believes that a tiny home community could help younger and lower-income residents to be able to purchase their own properties.

Prior to general election day on October 18, there will be three weekends of advance voting:

  • October 1, 2 – City Hall (Downtown)
  • October 8, 9, 10 – Exhibition Park drive-through (East)
  • October 14, 15, 16 – ATB Centre (West)
