663 new COVID cases in Alberta Tuesday, 26 deaths

LETHBRIDGE, AB – The province has released its latest report on COVID-19 for Tuesday, covering statistics from the past 24 hours.

In that time, 663 cases were confirmed across the province bringing the total to 304,502. Of those, 19,456 cases are active while 282,268 people have recovered.

For the South Zone, 99 people tested positive which includes 35 people in Lethbridge.

Active infections across the region and Albert fell significantly from the day before.

Since yesterday’s update, 26 Albertans died from COVID with six of those coming from the South Zone. To date, 2,752 people in the province have died as a result of the virus.

The deaths in the South Zone were for residents of Lethbridge, Medicine Hat, Cypress County, Brooks, and Cardston County.

Provincially, 1,094 patients are currently hospitalized including 252 who have been admitted to intensive care.

Below is a breakdown of cases per health zone in Alberta:

• Calgary Zone – 114,820 cases, 4,708 active
  • 284 in hospital, 81 in ICU
  • 790 deaths (four new)
• Edmonton Zone – 97,028 cases, 4,585 active
  • 317 in hospital, 116 in ICU
  • 1,205 deaths (two new)
• North Zone – 39,996 cases, 3,984 active
  • 148 in hospital, 11 in ICU
  • 285 deaths (nine new)
• Central Zone – 32,392 cases, 4,044 active
  • 206 in hospital, 19 in ICU
  • 280 deaths (five new)
• South Zone – 20,252 cases, 2,124 active
  • 139 in hospital, 25 in ICU
  • 218 deaths (six new)

Below is a breakdown of cases in the South Health Zone. The numbers in brackets show new cases or deaths over the past 24 hours:

• Lethbridge – 6,301 cases (35 new), 481 active, 46 deaths (one new)
  • West Lethbridge – 2,298 cases (13 new), 151 active, five deaths
  • North Lethbridge – 2,075 cases (seven new), 161 active, 14 deaths (one new)
  • South Lethbridge – 1,919 cases (15 new), 167 active, 27 deaths
• Medicine Hat – 4,041 cases (19 new), 544 active, 61 deaths (two new)
• Brooks – 1,999 cases (three new), 176 active, 20 deaths (one new)
• Lethbridge County – 1,719 cases (six new), 179 active, 14 deaths
• Cardston County – 1,595 cases (11 new), 180 active, 26 deaths (one new)
• M.D. of Taber – 1,079 cases (13 new), 153 active, 11 deaths
• Cypress County – 773 cases (12 new), 89 active, five deaths (one new)
• County of Warner – 653 cases (two new), 67 active, three deaths
• M.D. of Pincher Creek – 549 cases (two new), 51 active, nine deaths
• Fort Macleod – 469 cases (five new), 43 active, six deaths
• County of Newell – 406 cases, 52 active, five deaths
• County of Forty Mile – 288 cases (one new), 68 active, five deaths
• Crowsnest Pass – 133 cases (one new), 13 active, one death
• Waterton – Seven cases, zero active, zero deaths
