Fatal collision near Burmis Sunday evening

BURMIS, AB. — RCMP continue the investigation into a fatal multi-vehiCLe collision, on Highway 3 near Highway 507 on Sunday (Oct 23).

Around 6:14-pm, a 911 call brought officers from Piikani and Pincher Creek detachments as well as Pincher Creek EMS and Volker Stevin assisted with traffic control.

It has so far been determined that a Semi-trailer unit was westbound on Highway-3, when a pick-up truck crossed the centre line and collided with the semi.

The driver and lone occupant of the semi was taken to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

However, the lone driver of the eastbound pick-up truck, tentatively identified as a maN in his mid-forty’s from Calgary, died at the scene.
