LETHBRIDGE, AB – Lethbridge voters have the chance to take a walk and meet with local candidates in the 2021 municipal elections over the next few evenings.

Sylvia Klassen has organized ‘A Walk in the Park’.

The first of three events takes place Thursday evening (Oct. 7) from 5 to 7 p.m. Residents walking around Henderson Lake Park will be able to meet with candidates at Gunnery Point.

Klassen told LNN that the call has been put out to all candidates for Lethbridge City Council and those running for mayor.

“When you’re walking by Gunnery Point or whatever, there’s an opportunity to meet them and to greet them and say hi. If you have any questions, go ahead and [ask] some questions.”

Additional meet and greets are set for Friday, October 8 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Legacy Park (north Lethbridge) and Saturday, October 9 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Nicholas Sheran Park (west Lethbridge).

She remarked that the upcoming election “is so very important for the city of Lethbridge.”

“There are so many candidates, [for] example we have 32 candidates for council, with only eight positions open, so as a result, we’d like everybody to make an informed decision, even if it’s just for a second or so, just to quickly talk to the candidates.”

Klassen added, “it’s so important because we have so much to talk about in this election. There’s referendums, there’s all kinds of stuff, even just right down to our own time change and voting on that. It’s very exciting and historic.”

Below is a list of candidates and what events they will be appearing at. Klassen noted some candidates have yet to respond to her invitation to attend.
