4,614 new COVID cases in Alberta over past five days

LETHBRIDGE, AB – The province has released its latest report on COVID-19 for Tuesday, covering statistics from the past five days.

1,256 cases were confirmed across the province on Thursday, 1,085 on Friday, 1,039 on Saturday, 628 on Sunday, and 606 on Monday bringing the total to 311,633. Of those, 15,295 cases are active while 293,475 people have recovered.

The five-day average of the new cases in Alberta equates to 922.8 per day.

In the South Zone, 443 people tested positive with 134 in Lethbridge. Active cases are down significantly across the province.

Since Thursday’s update, 49 Albertans died from COVID with 10 new in the South Zone. To date, 2,863 people in the province have died as a result of the virus.

There were two new deaths in Lethbridge with one each coming from the South and North parts of the city.

Provincially, 1,053 patients are currently hospitalized including 242 who have been admitted to intensive care.

Below is a breakdown of cases per health zone in Alberta:

  • Calgary Zone – 116,571 cases, 3,819 active
    • 255 in hospital, 75 in ICU
    • 802 deaths (eight new)
  • Edmonton Zone – 98,679 cases, 3,531 active
    • 316 in hospital, 110 in ICU
    • 1,231 deaths (15 new)
  • North Zone – 41,481 cases, 3,075 active
    • 164 in hospital, 12 in ICU
    • 303 deaths (eight new)
  • Central Zone – 33,839 cases, 3,180 active
    • 193 in hospital, 20 in ICU
    • 297 deaths (eight new)
  • South Zone – 20,999 cases, 1,661 active
    • 125 in hospital, 25 in ICU
    • 230 deaths (10 new)

Below is a breakdown of cases in the South Health Zone. The numbers in brackets show new cases or deaths over the past five days:

  • Lethbridge – 6,493 cases (134 new), 424 active, 48 deaths (two new)
    • West Lethbridge – 2,366 cases (48 new), 139 active, five deaths
    • North Lethbridge – 2,152 cases (53 new), 153 active, 15 deaths (one new)
    • South Lethbridge – 1,967 cases (33 new), 134 active, 28 deaths (one new)
  • Medicine Hat – 4,216 cases (99 new), 390 active, 67 deaths (four new)
  • Brooks – 2,037 cases (16 new), 109 active, 21 deaths (one new)
  • Lethbridge County – 1,775 cases (35 new), 129 active, 16 deaths (one new)
  • Cardston County – 1,664 cases (46 new), 143 active, 27 deaths (two new)
  • M.D. of Taber – 1,139 cases (31 new), 128 active, 11 deaths
  • Cypress County – 803 cases (16 new), 58 active, six deaths
  • County of Warner – 681 cases (19 new), 60 active, three deaths
  • M.D. of Pincher Creek – 567 cases (11 new), 41 active, nine deaths
  • Fort Macleod – 493 cases (11 new), 47 active, six deaths
  • County of Newell – 416 cases (five new), 47 active, five deaths
  • County of Forty Mile – 309 cases (nine new), 47 active, five deaths
  • Crowsnest Pass – 135 cases, nine active, one death
  • Waterton – Seven cases, zero active, zero deaths
