Quebec reports 644 new COVID-19 cases, two deaths as hospitalizations remain stable

MONTREAL — Quebec is reporting 644 new cases of COVID-19 today and two more deaths attributed to the novel coronavirus.

COVID-19-related hospitalizations remained unchanged compared with the day before, at 298, and 76 people were in intensive care, a rise of one.

Quebec’s public health institute says 90 per cent of residents 12 and up have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine and 86.8 per cent are considered adequately vaccinated.  

Officials say 11,774 doses of vaccine were administered in the past 24 hours.

Earlier today, the government said it would expand its health-care bonus system to nurses working in private long-term care centres and in seniors residences.

Nurses willing to work full time over the next year will receive one-time bonuses of $15,000, as will new full-time hires. Nurses in private seniors residences will receive $7,500.
