1,051 new COVID cases in Alberta as active cases continue falling

LETHBRIDGE, AB – The province has released its latest report on COVID-19 for Friday, covering statistics from the past 24 hours.

1,051 cases were confirmed across the province, bringing the total to 314,252. Of those, 12,978 cases are active while 298,328 people have recovered.

In the South Zone, 87 people tested positive with 28 in Lethbridge and 18 in Medicine Hat.

Active infections across the region fell by 71 since our most recent report.

Since yesterday’s update, 16 Albertans died from COVID with five in the North one, three each in the Calgary, Central, and North Zones, and two in the South Zone. To date, 2,946 people in the province have died as a result of the virus.

Provincially, 1,000 patients are currently hospitalized including 229 who have been admitted to intensive care.

• Calgary Zone – 117,264 cases, 3,050 active
  • 229 in hospital, 69 in ICU
  • 817 deaths (three new)
• Edmonton Zone – 99,305 cases, 3,050 active
  • 312 in hospital, 103 in ICU
  • 1,250 deaths (three new)
• North Zone – 42,009 cases, 2,588 active
  • 158 in hospital, 17 in ICU
  • 322 deaths (five new)
• Central Zone – 34,326 cases, 2,562 active
  • 177 in hospital, 14 in ICU
  • 321 deaths (three new)
• South Zone – 21,293 cases, 1,463 active
  • 124 in hospital, 26 in ICU
  • 236 deaths (two new)

Below is a breakdown of cases in the South Health Zone. The numbers in brackets show new cases or deaths over the past 24 hours:

• Lethbridge – 6,583 cases (28 new), 403 active, 50 deaths
  • West Lethbridge – 2,396 cases (12 new), 138 active, five deaths
  • North Lethbridge – 2,180 cases (10 new), 141 active, 17 deaths
  • South Lethbridge – 1,999 cases (six new), 126 active, 28 deaths
• Medicine Hat – 4,259 cases (18 new), 324 active, 68 deaths (one new)
• Brooks – 2,053 cases (one new), 73 active, 21 deaths
• Lethbridge County – 1,797 cases (10 new), 112 active, 16 deaths
• Cardston County – 1,689 cases (eight new), 123 active, 29 deaths
• M.D. of Taber – 1,174 cases (six new), 129 active, 11 deaths
• Cypress County – 810 cases (three new), 51 active, six deaths
• County of Warner – 695 cases (three new), 59 active, three deaths
• M.D. of Pincher Creek – 582 cases (five new), 42 active, nine deaths
• Fort Macleod – 502 cases (three new), 43 active, six deaths
• County of Newell – 436 cases, 35 active, six deaths (one new)
• County of Forty Mile – 314 cases, 38 active, five deaths
• Crowsnest Pass – 138 cases (one new), 10 active, one death
• Waterton – Seven cases, zero active, zero deaths
