9,804 residents cast their ballot in early municipal election voting

LETHBRIDGE, AB – The City of Lethbridge has released the preliminary voting numbers for the 2021 Municipal Election.

12 per cent of eligible Lethbridge voters have already cast their ballot, meaning 9,804 people have voted.

In comparison, during the advance vote in 2017, there were 3,912 voters or about five per cent of eligible voters that made it to the polls.

Here’s how the early voters turned out for 2021:

  • ATB Centre total 4,642:
    • 1,834 on October 16
    • 1,364 on October 15
    • 1,444 on October 14
  • Exhibition Park total 3,907:
    • 1,212 on October 10
    • 1,273 on October 9
    • 1,422 on October 8
  • City Hall total 1,255
    • 646 on October 2
    • 609 on October 1

The city is reminding residents that General Election Day polls will be open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, October 18. If voters are in line to cast their ballot when polls close, those who got in line before 8 p.m. will still be allowed to vote.

In a release, the city stated that “Public Transit is free today, October 18, and there is a voting station at the Lethbridge Regional Park ‘N Ride Transit Terminal. As a result of its popularity, the drive-through voting option at Exhibition Park will also be offered today.”

The city anticipates election results to start updating the City website at about 8:30 p.m. For results, go to lethbridge.ca/electionresults.
