LETHBRIDGE, AB. — An update on the response to the Alberta Livestock Feed Assistance program, made available through the AgriRecovery program, is meeting with good response.

Alberta Beef Producers Government Relations and Policy Lead, Mark Lyseng, confirmed the latest numbers.

“The first $94 per breeding female payment through AgriRecovery is currently paying out and so far, producers have applied for 1.6 million cows, for a total of $137 Million. But, applications close on October 31.”

Lyseng is hoping there isn’t a lot of potential producers who haven’t applied yet.

“Some people might be waiting for the second payment of $106 per breeding female but, that application doesn’t come until January 2022. It’ll be first thing in the New Year because it’s based off of the December 31 inventory date.”

Eligible producers who haven’t yet applied to the Livestock Feed Assistance Program are being urged to do so before the last day of October.

“If producers haven’t already applied for their payment, they should go to the Agriculture Financial Services Corporation website, and go on afscconnect to apply. They can also get any other information on abpdaily.com
