Councillor-elect Nick Paladino bringing intermunicipal connections to Lethbridge City Council

LETHBRIDGE, AB – Nick Paladino is saying thank you to all electors in Lethbridge who voted during the 2021 municipal elections, especially those who voted for him.

After an unsuccessful bid for a council seat in the 2017 civic elections, the Lethbridge councillor-elect is looking forward to addressing the concerns of citizens for the next four years.

He said that during his campaign, economic development was his top priority, however, he said “it became clear pretty quick that addressing our social issues should probably be moved up to the top of the list.”

“If you can’t begin to minimize the homelessness and the associated problems, it’s going to be really tough to attract new business development.”

He remarked that the election campaign was more difficult this year than his last run in 2017, particularly due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Paladino is no stranger to municipal governance, having worked for the City of Lethbridge early in his career before serving 30 years for Lethbridge County as the manager of planning and development.

He told LNN that although he’s been retired for about eight years, “I still have connections at the [Lethbridge] County and some of the little towns in the county.”

“That’s something I’m going to try to get myself on, [on] one of the committees – the Intermunicipal Development Committee.”
