Two arrested following robbery at northside Walmart

LETHBRIDGE, AB – Lethbridge Police apprehended two people over the weekend in connection to a robbery.

At approximately 8:50 pm on Saturday, October 23, LPS received a report that a man had tried to steal merchandise from the Walmart on the north side.

When confronted by staff, he allegedly pulled out a knife and fled the store without paying for the items.

The suspect fled the scene in a vehicle.

A short while later, officers stopped the vehicle nearby and arrested two people who were inside. They seized several knives and a tactical hatchet.

Anthony Douglas Johnston, 27, of Lethbridge, was charged with robbery and two counts of possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine, fentanyl). He was remanded in custody to appear in court on October 27, 2021

Aedan Tanya Betts, 20, of Lethbridge, was charged with failure to comply with a release order. She was released from custody to appear in court on November 1, 2021.

The pair was also arrested just three days prior on charges of possession of stolen property. That was in connection to a search warrant that was expected at a home in the 400 block of 12B Street North.
