Active cases in South Zone fall below 1,000

LETHBRIDGE, AB – The province has released its latest report on COVID-19 for Tuesday, covering statistics from the past 24 hours.

442 cases were confirmed across the province, bringing the total to 321,210. Of those, 9,267 cases are active while 308,880 people have recovered.

In the South Zone, 54 people tested positive with 18 in Lethbridge.

Active infections have fallen down to three digits, decreasing by 24 in one day.

Since yesterday’s update, 12 Albertans died from COVID with six in the North Zone and three each in the South and Edmonton Zones. To date, 3,063 people in the province have died as a result of the virus.

The deaths in the South Zone were for residents of South Lethbridge, Cardston County, and the County of Warner.

Provincially, 836 patients are currently hospitalized including 183 who have been admitted to intensive care.

  • Calgary Zone – 119,022 cases, 2,334 active
    • 193 in hospital, 46 in ICU
    • 829 deaths
  • Edmonton Zone – 100,860 cases, 2,166 active
    • 255 in hospital, 85 in ICU
    • 1,272 deaths (three new)
  • North Zone – 43,513 cases, 1,929 active
    • 117 in hospital, 10 in ICU
    • 349 deaths (six new)
  • Central Zone – 35,748 cases, 1,836 active
    • 166 in hospital, 20 in ICU
    • 353 deaths
  • South Zone – 22,016 cases, 992 active
    • 105 in hospital, 22 in ICU
    • 260 deaths (three new)

Below is a breakdown of cases in the South Health Zone. The numbers in brackets show new cases or deaths over the last day:

  • Lethbridge – 6,820 cases (18 new), 317 active, 55 deaths (one new)
    • West Lethbridge – 2,494 cases (four new), 122 active, six deaths
    • North Lethbridge – 2,242 cases (nine new), 89 active, 18 deaths
    • South Lethbridge – 2,077 cases (five new), 107 active, 31 deaths (one new)
  • Medicine Hat – 4,398 cases (nine new), 176 active, 74 deaths
  • Brooks – 2,070 cases (one new), 31 active, 23 deaths
  • Lethbridge County – 1,881 cases (five new), 104 active, 17 deaths
  • Cardston County – 1,742 cases (seven new), 73 active, 35 deaths (one new)
  • M.D. of Taber – 1,211 cases (four new), 73 active, 13 deaths
  • Cypress County – 820 cases, 21 active, six deaths
  • County of Warner – 732 cases (four new), 50 active, four deaths (one new)
  • M.D. of Pincher Creek – 605 cases (one new), 38 active, nine deaths
  • Fort Macleod – 518 cases (one new), 23 active, six deaths
