Bigelow Fowler South lab patients to be sent to Chinook Hospital following permanent closure

LETHBRIDGE, AB – Alberta Health Services has announced changes to community lab services in Lethbridge.

On Monday, November 1, Bigelow Fowler South Medical Clinic will be permanently closed. Laboratory patients at that clinic will be transferred to the Lethbridge Community Lab at Chinook Regional Hospital.

All remaining Alberta Precision Lab (APL) staff and equipment at Bigelow Fowler South will head to the hospital location as well.

“We regret any inconvenience these changes may cause, and we appreciate the community’s understanding as we continue to provide safe and efficient lab service during the COVID-19 pandemic,” reads a statement from AHS.

There are expected to be no impacts on service levels or wait times for patients.

AHS assures that Bigelow Fowler Clinic West will remain open for appointment service only.
