Two in Lethbridge face drug and child endangerment charges

LETHBRIDGE, AB – Lethbridge Police arrested two people for allegedly putting two young children in danger due to drug-related circumstances.

The investigation started into suspected drug trafficking in July involving one person.

A search was conducted at a northside home on Wednesday, October 27.

Two children were found inside and were released to a relative.

Officers seized 21.2 grams of meth and 38.4 grams of fentanyl with a total street value of over $8,900.

There was also paraphernalia consistent with drug trafficking and $480 in cash.

To protect the identities of the children, LPS cannot release the names of the two people charged.

A 47-year-old man was charged with one count under the Drug Endangered Children Act, two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking, and one count of possession of stolen property (proceeds of crime). He remains in custody while awaiting a Judicial Interim Release Hearing.

A 38-year-old woman was charged with one count under the Drug Endangered Children Act and one count of possession of a controlled substance. She was released from custody to appear in court on January 28, 2021.
