$176-million being invested in emissions reduction projects in Alberta
LETHBRIDGE, AB – The Alberta Government says it aims to reduce carbon emissions at the same level as eliminating emissions from the electricity used by 4.5-million homes.
They are investing up to $126-million into numerous projects through the Technology, Innovation, and Emissions Reduction (TIER) system, while the federal government’s Low Carbon Economy Leadership Fund (LCELF) will contribute another $50-million.
“Alberta continues to show leadership by using technology in practical ways to reduce emissions and combat climate change. These investments will help us grow our economy and pave the way to an even brighter future for all Albertans by building on Alberta’s strong foundation as a responsible and innovative energy leader,” says Premier Jason Kenney.
The province estimates that these initiatives will support around 5,600 jobs and inject $2-billion into Alberta’s economy.
