AHS confirms 466 cases across Alberta, 30 in South Zone

LETHBRIDGE, AB – The province has released its latest report on COVID-19 for Friday, covering statistics from the past 24 hours.

466 cases were confirmed across the province, bringing the total to 325,983. Of those, 6,386 cases are active while 316,455 people have recovered.

In the South Zone, 30 people tested positive with seven in Lethbridge. No community in the region had new cases in the double digits.

Active infections regionally fell by 43.

Since yesterday’s update, five Albertans died from COVID with two in the Calgary Zone and one each in the South, Edmonton, and North Zones. To date, 3,142 people in the province have died as a result of the virus.

The death in the South Zone was for a resident of the M.D. of Pincher Creek.

Provincially, 660 patients are currently hospitalized including 141 who have been admitted to intensive care.

  • Calgary Zone – 120,359 cases, 1,779 active
    • 143 in hospital, 37 in ICU
    • 841 deaths (two new)
  • Edmonton Zone – 101,915 cases, 1,412 active
    • 211 in hospital, 69 in ICU
    • 1,291 deaths (one new)
  • North Zone – 44,593 cases, 1,401 active
    • 102 in hospital, nine in ICU
    • 365 deaths (one new)
  • Central Zone – 36,617 cases, 1,139 active
    • 134 in hospital, 13 in ICU
    • 368 deaths
  • South Zone – 22,456 cases, 652 active
    • 70 in hospital, 13 in ICU
    • 277 deaths (one new)

Below is a breakdown of cases in the South Health Zone. The numbers in brackets show new cases or deaths over the last day:

  • Lethbridge – 6,951 cases (seven new), 205 active, 60 deaths
    • West Lethbridge – 2,538 cases (five new), 68 active, seven deaths
    • North Lethbridge – 2,294 cases (one new), 72 active, 21 deaths
    • South Lethbridge – 2,112 cases (one new), 65 active, 32 deaths
  • Medicine Hat – 4,448 cases (seven new), 82 active, 78 deaths
  • Brooks – 2,084 cases, 19 active, 23 deaths
  • Lethbridge County – 1,918 cases (three new), 54 active, 19 deaths
  • Cardston County – 1,798 cases (three new), 78 active, 37 deaths
  • M.D. of Taber – 1,232 cases (two new), 37 active, 15 deaths
  • Cypress County – 839 cases, 23 active, six deaths
  • County of Warner – 756 cases (two new), 35 active, four deaths
  • M.D. of Pincher Creek – 628 cases (one new), 33 active, 10 deaths (one new)
  • Fort Macleod – 548 cases (two new), 31 active, six deaths
  • County of Newell – 474 cases (two new), 17 active, seven deaths
