484 new COVID cases confirmed in Alberta as active infections fall

LETHBRIDGE, AB – The province has released its latest report on COVID-19 for Wednesday, covering statistics from the past 24 hours.

484 cases were confirmed across the province, bringing the total to 328,189. Of those, 6,008 cases are active while 319,017 people have recovered.

With 11,169 tests completed over the past day, the positivity rate was 4.3 per cent.

In the South Zone, 48 people tested positive. No communities in the region had 10 or more new cases.

Active infections regionally rose by just three.

Since yesterday’s update, five Albertans died from COVID with two each in the Edmonton and North Zones, and one in the Calgary Zone. To date, 3,164 people in the province have died as a result of the virus.

Provincially, 582 patients are currently hospitalized including 123 who have been admitted to intensive care.

• Calgary Zone – 121,042 cases, 1,777 active
  • 120 in hospital, 29 in ICU
  • 841 deaths (one new)
• Edmonton Zone – 102,372 cases, 1,308 active
  • 192 in hospital, 60 in ICU
  • 1,296 deaths (two new)
• North Zone – 45,068 cases, 1,299 active
  • 88 in hospital, seven in ICU
  • 374 deaths (two new)
• Central Zone – 37,012 cases, 1,067 active
  • 119 in hospital, 10 in ICU
  • 373 deaths
• South Zone – 22,651 cases, 554 active
  • 63 in hospital, 17 in ICU
  • 280 deaths

Below is a breakdown of cases in the South Health Zone. The numbers in brackets show new cases or deaths over the past 24 hours:

• Lethbridge – 7,008 cases (seven new), 168 active, 61 deaths
  • West Lethbridge – 2,560 cases (five new), 54 active, eight deaths
  • North Lethbridge – 2,308 cases, 60 active, 21 deaths
  • South Lethbridge – 2,133 cases (two new), 54 active, 32 deaths
• Medicine Hat – 4,463 cases (two new), 64 active, 78 deaths
• Brooks – 2,087 cases, 16 active, 24 deaths
• Lethbridge County – 1,932 cases (seven new), 43 active, 19 deaths
• Cardston County – 1,813 cases (two new), 50 active, 38 deaths
• M.D. of Taber – 1,259 cases (nine new), 45 active, 15 deaths
• Cypress County – 845 cases, 20 active, six deaths
• County of Warner – 771 cases (four new), 31 active, four deaths
• M.D. of Pincher Creek – 639 cases (four new), 28 active, 10 deaths
• Fort Macleod – 557 cases (five new), 35 active, six deaths
