Active COVID cases fall below 6,000 in Alberta

LETHBRIDGE, AB – The province has released its latest report on COVID-19 for Friday, covering statistics from the past two days as no numbers were released on Remembrance Day.

In that time, 841 cases were confirmed across the province for a daily average of 420. 5,745 cases are active while 320,114 people have recovered.

With 20,427 tests conducted over that period, the positivity rate was 4.1 per cent.

In the South Zone, 61 people tested positive over the past two days, with 23 in Lethbridge and 11 in Medicine Hat.

Active infections in the region fell by 46.

Since Wednesday’s update, seven Albertans died from COVID with two each in the Central and Edmonton Zones and one each in the South, Calgary, and North Zones. To date, 3,171 people in the province have died as a result of the virus.

Provincially, 554 patients are currently hospitalized including 110 who have been admitted to intensive care.

  • 105 in hospital, 22 in ICU
  • 842 deaths (one new)
• Edmonton Zone – 102,548 cases, 1,246 active
  • 184 in hospital, 55 in ICU
  • 1,298 deaths (two new)
• North Zone – 45,246 cases, 1,240 active
  • 83 in hospital, six in ICU
  • 375 deaths (one new)
• Central Zone – 37,186 cases, 1,008 active
  • 118 in hospital, nine in ICU
  • 375 deaths (two new)
• South Zone – 22,712 cases, 508 active
  • 64 in hospital, 18 in ICU
  • 281 deaths (one new)
