LETHBRIDGE, AB. — Multiple charges have been laid against two city men as the result of a drug search warrant executed on Wednesday (Nov 10).

The Tactical Team, with the assistance of patrols, the Priority Crimes Unit and the Crime Suppression Team, searched a home and a travel trailer and moving van in the 2100 block of 5 Avenue North.

Officers seized 8.9 grams of methamphetamine and 12.1 grams of fentanyl, with a total street value of about $3,000, a firearm and a large amount of stolen property including an E-bike, various tools and identity documents.

Jason Bertram, aged 47, faces ten charges, including four counts of possession of stolen property under $5,000, three counts of possession of identity documents, two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking, and possession of a firearm contrary to a prohibition order. He was remanded in custody for a scheduled court appearance on Friday (Nov 12).

36 year old Grant Tyler Williams, is charged with possession of a controlled substance and carrying a concealed weapon. He was released from custody for a scheduled court appearance on Jan. 20, 2022.

Two other individuals on the property were arrested on breach of release orders, and a third for outstanding arrest warrants, so further charges may be pending.

The execution of the search warrant was scheduled in co-ordination with administrators at a nearby school to ensure the students were safely inside.
