LETHBRIDGE, AB. — Rainfall, heavy snow or winter storm warnings remain up for almost all of southern B-C and Vancouver Island.

Environment Canada says the worst of the rain will fall on the central and eastern Fraser Valley, which could see up to 230 millimetres by this afternoon.

The rain and melting snow from higher elevations is causing mudslides and has led to several closures of major highways connecting the Lower Mainland and the Interior of B.C.

A winter storm warning for the Trans-Canada Highway through Rogers Pass, the Shuswap and West Columbia regions predicts up to 50 centimeters of snow.

In Alberta, snowfall warnings and winter storm advisories are in place from Kananaskis through the central parts of the province.

Wind warnings are in place for southern Alberta from the mountains to the Saskatchewan border.

Fro the area from the Crowsnest Pass east to Lethbridge and Taber, wind gusts could reach 100-kph to 110-kph by the afternoon, up to 110 to the west of Lethbridge.
