Average of 365 daily COVID cases recorded in Alberta this weekend

LETHBRIDGE, AB – The province has released its latest report on COVID-19 for Monday, covering statistics from the past three days.

In that time, 1,068 cases were confirmed for a daily average of just 365. Currently, 5,828 cases are active while 321,082 people have recovered.

With 21,752 tests conducted, the positivity rate this weekend was 4.9 per cent.

In the South Zone, 102 people tested positive over the last three days, or 34 per day. 32 people contracted COVID in Lethbridge, as did 18 in Lethbridge County and 17 in Medicine Hat.

Active infections across the region rose by 13 since our last report.

Since Friday’s update, 17 Albertans died from COVID with five in the Central Zone, four in the North Zone, three each in the Calgary and Edmonton Zones, and two in the South Zone. To date, 3,188 people in the province have died as a result of the virus.

The deaths in the South Zone were for residents of North Lethbridge and the County of Newell.

Provincially, 519 patients are currently hospitalized including 100 who have been admitted to intensive care.

Below is a breakdown of cases per health zone in Alberta:

  • Calgary Zone – 121,691 cases, 1,848 active
    • 114 in hospital, 22 in ICU
    • 845 deaths (three new)
  • Edmonton Zone – 102,770 cases, 1,249 active
    • 159 in hospital, 47 in ICU
    • 1,301 deaths (three new)
  • North Zone – 45,432 cases, 1,213 active
    • 74 in hospital, seven in ICU
    • 379 deaths (four new)
  • Central Zone – 37,346 cases, 991 active
    • 112 in hospital, eight in ICU
    • 380 deaths (five new)
  • South Zone – 22,712 cases, 521 active
    • 60 in hospital, 16 in ICU
    • 283 deaths (two new)

Below is a breakdown of cases in the South Health Zone. The numbers in brackets show new cases or deaths over the past 24 hours:

  • Lethbridge – 7,063 cases (32 new), 157 active, 62 deaths (one new)
    • West Lethbridge – 2,582 cases (14 new), 62 active, eight deaths
    • North Lethbridge – 2,331 cases (14 new), 55 active, 22 deaths (one new)
    • South Lethbridge – 2,143 cases (four new), 40 active, 32 deaths
  • Medicine Hat – 4,491 cases (17 new), 64 active, 78 deaths
  • Brooks – 2,091 cases, 14 active, 24 deaths
  • Lethbridge County – 1,952 cases (18 new), 46 active, 19 deaths
  • Cardston County – 1,821 cases (six new), 34 active, 38 deaths
  • M.D. of Taber – 1,273 cases (eight new), 48 active, 16 deaths
  • Cypress County – 845 cases (one new), 14 active, six deaths
  • County of Warner – 779 cases (seven new), 29 active, four deaths
  • M.D. of Pincher Creek – 643 cases (two new), 21 active, 10 deaths
  • Fort Macleod – 562 cases (three new), 35 active, six deaths
  • County of Newell – 498 cases (three new), 31 active, eight deaths (one new)
