Taber town councillor sanctioned following events of October meeting

Nov 17, 2021 | 2:45 PM

TABER, AB – A town councillor in Taber will have to write a public apology regarding his behaviour at a recent meeting.

At the October 25 regular meeting, members of the community noted concerns about Councillor Jack Brewin after watching the live-streamed video. They believed that the third-term councillor appeared to have been intoxicated.

Formal complaints were submitted to the town and council launched an investigation into a breach of the Code of Conduct.

A closed special meeting was held on Monday, November 15. It was done in this way due to the confidential nature of the subject matter.

Mayor Andrew Prokop says the following motion from Carly Firth was passed:

“That council sanctions Councillor Brewin by requesting a written public apology to the mayor, council, administration, and the people of Taber by November 22, 2021, regarding the events of the October 25, 2021 meeting of council.”

Prokop was not able to elaborate to LNN any further details of the discussion that took place this week.
