AHS reports average of 375 COVID cases/day over the weekend

LETHBRIDGE, AB – The province has released its latest report on COVID-19 for Monday, covering statistics from the three days.

Note: Due to lower COVID-19 case counts in recent weeks, LNN will only be reporting COVID numbers once per week on Mondays. Should the situation change, we might go back to daily reporting.

Over the last three days, 1,125 people tested positive for a daily average of 375. To date, there have been 332,751 cases in Alberta. 5,311 cases are active while 324,223 people have recovered.

With 21,938 tests having been completed over the weekend, the positivity rate was 5.1 per cent.

In the South Zone, there were 92 new cases or a daily average of 30. A total of 30 people tested positive in Lethbridge as did 17 in Medicine Hat.

Active infections across the region stayed flat.

Since Friday’s update, six Albertans died from COVID with five in the Central Zone and one in the North Zone. To date, 3,217 people in the province have died as a result of the virus.

Provincially, 463 patients are currently hospitalized including 98 who have been admitted to intensive care.

Below is a breakdown of cases per health zone in Alberta:

  • Calgary Zone – 122,669 cases, 1,873 active
    • 100 in hospital, 23 in ICU
    • 846 deaths
  • Edmonton Zone – 103,349 cases, 1,180 active
    • 143 in hospital, 44 in ICU
    • 1,308 deaths
  • North Zone – 45,921 cases, 989 active
    • 64 in hospital, nine in ICU
    • 384 deaths (one new)
  • Central Zone – 37,754 cases, 818 active
    • 104 in hospital, 10 in ICU
    • 392 deaths (five new)
  • South Zone – 23,011 cases, 442 active
    • 52 in hospital, 12 in ICU
    • 287 deaths

Below is a breakdown of cases in the South Health Zone. The numbers in brackets show new cases or deaths over the past three days:

  • Lethbridge – 7,123 cases (30 new), 142 active, 62 deaths
    • West Lethbridge – 2,607 cases (21 new), 60 active, eight deaths
    • North Lethbridge – 2,349 cases (four new), 51 active, 22 deaths
    • South Lethbridge – 2,150 cases (five new), 31 active, 32 deaths
  • Medicine Hat – 4,527 cases (17 new), 70 active, 78 deaths
  • Brooks – 2,096 cases (three new), 10 active, 24 deaths
  • Lethbridge County – 1,964 cases (one new), 40 active, 19 deaths
  • Cardston County – 1,844 cases (eight new), 27 active, 39 deaths
  • M.D. of Taber – 1,287 cases (six new), 43 active, 17 deaths
  • Cypress County – 848 cases (three new), four active, six deaths
  • County of Warner – 784 cases (four new), 21 active, four deaths
  • M.D. of Pincher Creek – 649 cases (two new), 14 active, 11 deaths
  • Fort Macleod – 573 cases (three new), 23 active, seven deaths
  • County of Newell – 502 cases (three new), 15 active, eight deaths
  • County of Forty Mile – 344 cases (one new), four active, five deaths
  • Crowsnest Pass – 179 cases (nine new), 15 active, one death
  • Waterton – Seven cases, zero active, zero deaths
