Over 4,000 touques and teddies hit the ice at ENMAX Centre

LETHBRIDGE, AB – Lethbridge Hurricanes fans poured in their support during Friday’s Canadian Tire Touque and Teddy Toss.

At the ENMAX Centre, 3,585 teddy bears and 431 touques were thrown onto the ice.

The Canes said these will be donated to 17 different organizations around Southern Alberta.

In Friday’s game, however, Lethbridge fell 4-2 to the Brandon Wheat Kings.

Zakhar Polshakov was the first to hit the net, getting one goal for the Wheat Kings.

The Canes’ Ty Nash followed that up with a power play goal at 8:30 in the first period, thanks to assists from Noah Boyko and Yegor Klavdiev.

Shortly after Brandon made their second goal, Logan Wormald earned another point for the Canes with assists from Chase Pauls and Bryan Thomson.

The away team scored twice more in the third period to second the victory for the Wheat Kings.

Ty Nash was named the second start of the game.

The Canes then headed to Calgary on Saturday, overcoming the Hitmen 5-4 in overtime.

This contest marked the Hitmen’s Teddy Bear Toss Game.

Noah Boyko hit the net twice in the first period with the second being a power play. Jett Jones, Yegor Klavdiev, and Logan McCutcheon provided assists.

After one goal by Calgary in the second, Ty Nash scored for the Canes in the second.

In an action packed third period, the Hitmen earned three points.

Chase Wheatcroft made the scoreboard for Lethbridge, ensuring the game went into overtime.

Nash got his second goal of the game 1:37 into overtime thanks to assists from Logan Barlage and Nolan Bentham.

All three stars of Saturday’s game were members of the Hurricanes with Ty Nash, Billal Noori, and Noah Boyko being honoured.

Up next for the Canes, they are at home on Wednesday, welcoming the Hitmen for a rematch at the ENMAX Centre.
