Town of Coaldale and Working Group to discuss feasibility of new or improved skate park

Dec 7, 2021 | 10:16 AM

COALDALE, AB – The Town of Coaldale could see a new or improved skate park.

The town has developed a public engagement plan to explore the possibility of building a new skate park or revitalizing the existing one. Administration will collaborate with the Skate Park Working Group to develop a proposal to bring to council for consideration.

In a release, Director of Recreation and Community Development Russ Tanner said that, “the idea of updating or building a skate park in Coaldale was put forward by the community during the mountain bike park project.”

“There was a strong desire for more recreation-focused amenities in Coaldale; the skate park is another piece of the puzzle to developing amenities that are up-to-date, functional, and enjoyable for the whole community.”

Tanner added that the town is looking forward to initiating discussions with the working group.

“Our hope is to continue building on the success we’ve seen in the mountain bike park and make sure our recreational facilities cater to all members of the community. Exploring the option to have an upgraded skate park will keep Coaldale on track to becoming Southern Alberta’s recreational hub.”

The working group will start meeting early next year.
