Blood Tribe issues community drug alert

Dec 8, 2021 | 9:28 AM

STAND OFF, AB – The Blood Tribe is warning residents about a “bad batch” of drugs in the community.

On Tuesday, the Reserve issued a notice stating members are in danger and encouraging them to pick up naloxone kits from different locations in the area.

The notice reads, “there is a very poisonous batch of opioids out there and we are experiencing a spike in overdoses.”

Notice from the Blood Tribe on Facebook.

Naloxone kits can be obtained from the Blood Tribe fire hall, the Standoff Safe House and local pharmacies.

“Please check on family members, please have naloxone on hand and do not use alone.”

In the event of a drug poisoning, residents are asked to call 911 “as naloxone/Narcan is not effective for every drug.”
